Abstract

The invention comprises esters of the formula <FORM:0734430/IV (b)/1> in which A is a substituted or unsubstituted aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing not more than 10 carbon atoms, R1 and R2 are aliphatic hydrocarbon radicals and (1) R3 and R4 are substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals each containing not more than 10 carbon atoms or (ii) one of R3 and R4 is a hydrogen atom and the other is a substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radical containing not more than 10 carbon atoms; or (iii) the radical -N(R3)(R4) is a nitrogen-containing, saturated heterocyclic ring and acid salts thereof and the preparation thereof by reacting (1) 4-alkylamino-2-alkoxy-benzoic acid with an amino alcohol HO.A.N. (R3)(R4); (2) p 4-alkylamino-2-alkoxy-benzoic acid with a halogenated alcohol and subsequently with an amine H.N.(R3)(R4); (3) a metal salt of 4-alkylamino-2-alkoxy-benzoic acid with an ester X.A.N. (R3)(R4) wherein X is halogen; (4) an ester of 4-alkylamino-2-alkoxy benzoic acid with an aminoalcohol HO.A.N(R3)(R4); (5) an appropriate ester of 4-amino-2-alkoxy benzoic acid with an alkyl halide, or with an aliphatic aldehyde or ketone with subsequent hydrogenation; (6) a compound of the formula <FORM:0734430/IV (b)/2> with an alkylating agent; (7) a compound of the formula <FORM:0734430/IV (b)/3> with an alkyl halide; (8) an ester of 4-alkyl-amino-2-phenoxy-benzoic acid with an aminoalcohol HO.A.N(R3)(R4); (9) a compound of the formula <FORM:0734430/IV (b)/4> wherein X is halogen, and M is a metal atom, with an alkyl halide and subsequently an amine H.N.(R3)(R4). Examples disclose the preparation of the dimethylaminoethyl esters of 4-n-butylamino-2-n-butoxy-, 4-n-butylamino-2-n-butoxy-, 4 - n - butylamino - 2 - isopropoxy-, and 4 - isopropylamino - 2 - n - butoxybenzoic acid, the diethylaminoethyl esters of 4-n-butyl-amino - 2 - methoxy -, 4 - allylamino - 2 - n - butoxy -, 4 - isobutylamino - 2 - n - propoxy-, and 4 - allylamino - 2 - n - propoxybenzoic acid, g - (41 - morpholinyl) - propyl ester of 4 - n - butylamino - 2 - methoxybenzoic acid, (a ,b - dimethyl - g - diethylamino) - n - propyl ester of 4 - n - propylamino - 2 - ethoxybenzoic acid, and the piperidinoethyl and methyl esters of 4-n-butylamino-2-n-butoxybenzoic acid.
