Abstract
733,517. Medicament injection apparatus. ELLING. K. ABILDGAARD-, [trading as LOVENS KEMISKE FABRIK VED. A. KONGSTED]. May 7, 1953 [May 10, 1952], No. 12804/53. Class 81 (2). A device for the injection of semi-fluid or ointment-like medicaments into the teats of domestic animals comprises a compressible container having a mouthpiece connected with a flexible cannula made of mouldable easily deformable organic material, the cannula having a diameter corresponding to that of the milk channel and being enclosed in a removable rigid case closed at one end and frictionally engaging the whole cannula. The cannula 3 is provided with an integral connecting piece 2 which has an internal screw thread for securing the cannula 3 to a deformable medicament tube of metal alloy. Alternatively the medicament tube may be made of polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride or other synthetic resin or vulcanized rubber in which case the cannula may be secured to the tube by heat or a suitable binder or may be integral with the tube. The rigid case 5 fits closely to the cannula 3, a hemispherical projection 6 being provided to plug the discharge orifice of the cannula 3. The rigid case 5 is made of metal, vulcanized rubber phenol-formaldehyde resin or other material which is hard but not brittle. For cows, the cannula 3 is 15-30 mm. long and has a diameter of about 2 mm., the dose administered to each teat being 1-4 ml.
