Abstract

Pigment colouring matters are obtained by finely-dividing by grinding or acid-pasting the products obtained by condensing Bz,1-halogenbenzanthrones with aminoanthraquinones having one or more amino groups in a -position and which may be further substituted or may have other ring systems condensed thereto (but excluding 5 - amino - 1.9 - isothiazoleanthrones). The usual water-soluble or mineral acid soluble grinding aids may be used in the grinding, and also dispersing agents. Examples describe the acid-pasting of 1 - N - (Bz,1 - benzanthronyl) - aminoanthraquinone and of the following substitution products thereof: 6,7-dichlor, 5-amino, 5-benzoylamino, 2-methyl, 4-methoxy, 4-hydroxy, 4,8-dihydroxy-5-amino, 4-(211,511-dichlorphenyl) amino, and 61-bromo. Also acid-pasted in examples are 1,5- or 1,8-di-N,N-(Bz,11 - benzanthronyl) - amino - anthraquinone, or their 4,8-dihydroxy or 2-methyl derivatives, 2 - methyl - 4(N) - (Bz,11 - benzanthronyl) - amino - 1,9 - C - carbethoxyanthrapyridone, or 4 - N - (Bz,11 - benzanthronyl) - amino - 2,1 - N - benzanthraquinoneacridone. Also in examples, 1 - N - (Bz,11 - benzanthronyl) aminoanthraquinone is ground with dinaphthylmethane-disulphonic acid (or with various alkylpolyglycol ethers, alkylarylsulphonates, sulphonated oils, fatty acid condensation products, alkyl sulphates and alkyl sulphonates) and water. Examples also describe the use of the products in colouring paper, colouring viscose fibres in the spinning mass, and in printing textiles. Specification 603,495 is referred to.
