[Also in Group XXIX] A piston 21 for actuating a valve closure member 24 (see Group XXIX) is packed by flat, flexible metal washers 49, e.g. of stainless steel 0.005 inch thick. A more positive seal is effected when the piston is in the position shown by a flexible, frustoconical washer 51.
