Abstract

731,280. Electrically tripped switches. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. July 10, 1953 [July 21, 1952], No. 18372/52. Class 38 (5). The circuit of a trip coil 15 of a power-closed circuit-breaker is adapted to be completed at a contact 20 by an arm 18 which responds immediately to any reverse motion of the moving contact rod 11 after the breaker is closed, due e.g. to failure of a latch 16. The power-closing means 17a, e.g. a spring, solenoid or compressed-air motor acts on a plunger 17 connected to rod 11 by a lever to which the arm 18 is frictionally connected so that during closing, arm 18 is swung against a stop 19. The coil 15 acts on a prop 13 normally retaining a linkage 12 connected to the plunger 17.
