An animated figure or head, e.g. a ventriloquist's dummy, having movable parts. comprises a relatively rigid inner shell or former 10 and a resilient and extensible outer cover 14 be. tween which, at the movable parts, are sacs or bulbs 18 in. flatable at will tc move the adjacent part of the cover. Ir the head shown, the outer cover 14, e.g. of rubber, fits the inner shell 10 closely except round the mouth and chin, bulb 18 being under the chin. Bulb 18 is connected by a tube 19 to a bulb 20 so that, on pressing bulb 20, the cover 14 is moved to alter the facial expression. The front of shell 10 is reinforced with plaster of Paris or the like 25. The head can be incorporated in a glove which conceals the bulb 20.
