Abstract

730,100. Feeding sheets &c. GODDARDS & CAWLEY, Ltd., CAWLEY, H., and JOHNSON, A. G. May 15, 1953 [May 21, 1952], No. 12844/52. Class 100 (1). A suction pick-up device comprises a number of tubular heads 5 so shaped that they can be fitted together to form a tube, and can be clamped together by the use of end-plates 6, 7 and a bolt and nuts 8-10, each head being provided with at least one tube or stem 4 which terminates in a suction face 3. At least one head 5 is provided with a nipple 11 for a connection 12 leading to a source of vacuum. A bored part 13 may be fitted between two heads 5 to form a support or handle by which the device may be manipulated, e.g. by hand or in a machine such as described in Specification 730,099. The device may be reciprocated vertically so that each sucker 3 separates a tab, sample, &c. from one of a number of boxes &c., the tabs &c., being subsequently affixed to a sheet by adhesive. Each head 5 may have two stems 4 which extend away from one another and are bent to place the sucker faces in a common plane to provide two parallel rows of suckers. The tabs may be applied to the adhesive sheets by the application of air pressure through the pick-up device.
