Abstract
Salts of cholesterylamines and penicillin are prepared by bringing the penicillin and cholesterylamine together in solution in a reaction solvent in which the said salts are relatively insoluble, with the cholesterylamine and the penicillin in solution in amounts to form substantially more of the said salts than will dissolve in the reaction solvent thereby to obtain a precipitate, and recovering the precipitate. In examples, the reaction solvent is ether and the products are the penicillin G salts of (a) 3-aminocholestene and (b) isocholesterylamine.ALSO:Therapeutic dispersions of penicillin salts of cholesterylamines (see Group IV (b)) are prepared by adding water to a solution of said penicillin salts in alcohol. Specified are the 3- aminocholestene and isocholesterylamine salts of penicillin-G.
