728,881. Picking-up cut crops. CLAAS, A., and CLAAS, F., [trading as CLAAS, GEB.]. Aug. 14, 1953, No. 22478/53. Class 6 (3). A pick-up drum for loading cut-crops comprises lateral worms 5 feeding to a central portion which is provided with pivoted cropimpelling members 20 which rotate with the drum so as to project outwardly from its surface during part of its rotation but to lie flat against the surface during the remaining part. The members may comprise cranked fingers; serrated teeth or curved plates parallel to the drum axis. The fingers are mounted on spindles 17 which carry followers 15 at one end engaging a fixed cam-track 14 which causes the fingers 20 to project outwardly or lie flush with the drum in recesses 21. The spindles may lie along the outside surface of the drum in longitudinal depressions and carry plates curved to conform to the drum surface when inoperative. The device may be mounted on a crop-loader or a combine-harvester or reaping machine, in the latter case being associated with a mower-bar 4.
