Abstract
The invention comprises brown wool dyes of the formula <FORM:0727466/IV (c)/1> in which nucleus Z may contain substituents such as halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, or sulpho. They are made by condensing 1 mol. of a 3.5 : 31.51-tetranitrobenzophenone, which contains in 4.41-positions halogen atoms or alkoxy groups with 2 mols. of a 2.6-diaminodiphenylamine-4-sulphonic acid, and treating the condensation product so obtained with an alkali at a tempera-of 70-100 DEG C. to bring about azine ring closure. In examples, 4.41-dichloro-3 : 5 : 31 : 51-tetranitrobenzophenone is condensed with 2.6-diaminodiphenylamine-4-sulphonic acid or its 41-methyl-, 21-chloro-, 21-methoxy-, or 41-sulpho derivatives.
