Abstract

727,192. Suspended vehicles. KING, Ltd., G. W. Jan. 4, 1954 [Jan. 28, 1953], No. 2483/53. Class 103 (4). In a conveyer system of the type wherein load-carrying trolleys are propelled along a fixed overhead track comprising two spaced parallel running surfaces, by engagement with the trolleys of driving abutments carried by an endless driven chain, each trolley comprises a main frame and bogey assembles mounted for pivotal movement relatively to the frame, each assembly incorporating a plurality of wheels or the like and/or skids or other members adapted to co-operate with the conveyer track thereby to support and provide steering means for the trolley as it is moved along said track. As shown, the trolley comprises a frame consisting of two side plates 10 and a cover-plate 11, the side plates being secured together by two rivets passed through apertures 14 and through distance pieces, and the cover-plate being formed with slots engaged by lugs 12 on the side plates. Each end of the frame is fitted with a bogey assembly which includes brackets 20, 21 arid two rollers 30, and is pivotally mounted by means of a ball 17 located between a domed plate 15 and a recessed portion of the bracket 21. The ball plate 15 is recessed at 18 to provide neck portions which seat in recesses 19 in the side plates 10. The bracket 21 is provided with a tongue 24 which passes through a slot in a guide element 22 and through a slot in the bracket 20. The guide element has an upturned tongue 27 for engagement in a slot 28 in the bracket 20. Each end portion of the bracket fits tightly in a rectangular aperture formed on the inner race member 32 of the roller 30. Apertures are provided in the brackets 20, 21 to accommodate a spindle 34 carrying a roller 35, and to support a spindle 39 carrying a roller 38. The trolley is used in a track indicated in Fig. 8, the rollers 30 running in the channelled portions 43, the lateral rollers 33 engaging the side walls 44, and the rollers 38 together with skids 29 in the guide element 22 being disposed between the portions 45 of the track. The skids are for use when the trolley is traversing switch points. The trolley has an aperture 47 in each side plate 10 for pivotal connection of a depending load bar, clevis attachment or the like.
