Abstract

The invention comprises straight-chain alkyl ethers of salicylamide having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms in the alkyl radical, and the preparation thereof by the reaction of salicyamide with the required alkyl halide, e.g. an alkyl bromide, in the presence of a basic condensing agent, e.g. sodium ethylate. In the examples, 2-n-propoxy-, 2-n-butoxy-, 2-n-amyloxy- and 2-n-hexyloxy-benzamide are prepared.
