Abstract

726,780. Diaphragms. COLE, Ltd., E. K., and HUTCHINGS, E. L. Jan. 19, 1953 [Jan. 19, 1952], No. 1577/52. Class 40 (4). The peripheral edge or the centring device for a loud-speaker cone is dimpled, corrugated or the like so that it can expand or contract radially and circumferentially. The cone may be of resin-impregnated paper, pressed into shape. In Fig. 3, dimples are arranged in radial and concentric lines, the dimples in adjacent lines being alternately raised and depressed. In Fig. 4, corrugations of a pyramidal shape are formed with the height of a pyramid equal to half the diagonal of the base. The cone may be elliptical. Acknowledgment is made of the prior state of the art represented by Specification 369,476.
