Abstract
726,747. Roll holders. LABORATORIES DE RECHERCHES ET D'APPLICATIONS PHARMACOLOGIQUES. June 22, 1953 [July 10, 1952 ; Feb. 18, 1953], No. 17213/53. Class 18. A container for a roll of adhesive plaster &c. comprises a cylindrical body 1 provided with a delivery slot 2, a core 4 for supporting the roll 5 being provided on the bottom 3 of the container. The removable lid 6 has a rib 7 which engages in the slot 2 to ensure the rigidity of the member 1. Upon the cylindrical body 1 a slide 8 is held between the lid and the bottom by grooves 9 and 10, and may be moved by a knob 13 to cut the tape or uncover the slot 2, a length of tape being left outside the slot after severing to facilitate subsequent withdrawal. The slide 8 is provided at one end with a serrated edge 14 and its other end with a smooth cutting edge 15, and it may be reversed in the grooves by removal of the lid to provide a cutting edge to suit the material on the roll. In a modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), the slide is connected to the body 1 by means of a stud slidable in a slot in the body 1, a key-hole slot being provided to enable the enlarged portion of the stud to be withdrawn to remove the slide. In a further modification, the lid 6 is provided with two circular flanges gripping the upper edge of the container between them. Alternatively, the inner flange may be provided only in the region adjoining the rib 7. In an alternative arrangement, Fig. 9 (not shown), a fixed cutting blade is provided on the body 1 which co-operates with a slide member to lock the tape to facilitate cutting.
