Abstract

725,703. Sheet-delivery apparatus. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG - NURNBERG AKT.-GES. March 9, 1953 [March 29, 1952], No. 6502/53. Class 100 (1). A device for facilitating the removal of one or more sheets for inspection from the delivery pile of a high-speed sheet-printing machine is characterized by a plurality of trap arms arranged fixedly above, and spaced from the forward edge of the delivery pile, into which trap arms, after removal of the sheet front stops of the machine from their operative position, the sheets delivered are arranged to be intro. duced until the front stops are returned to their operative position, sheets being removable from the top of the pile for inspection purposes when the sheet front stops are removed from their operative position. As shown, sheets are released from grippers 4, 5 on gripper chains 3 at the point I and are taken by suction grippers 6 operated in known manner to move along the chain-dotted line shown. The grippers 6 deliver the sheets on to a pile table 8, the leading edge of the sheet contacting front stops 7. Fixed to a cross-piece 9 is a number of trap arms 12 formed with shoe-shaped ends 13 against which bear springs 15 supported on clips 14 attached to the arms 12. When it is desired to inspect a sheet the front stops 7 are moved into an inoperative position by a handle 16. The sheets being delivered are then gripped between the shoes 13 and the springs 15 while a sheet to be inspected is removed from the pile 8. After removal. of the sheet to be inspected the stops 7 are replaced into their operative position; pushing the leading edges of the sheets held by the trap arms free of the springs 15 so that they fall upon the pile 8.
