Abstract
725,487. Cleaning pipes. COSMOPOLITAN AKT.-GES. June 30, 1953 [July 11, 1952], No. 18166/53. Class 99 (2). A fitting, which may have the form of a plug cock, for permanent insertion in a pipe-line through which a scraper 11 is carried by a fluid, e.g. mineral oil, flowing in the pipe-line, incorporates means, such as transverse teeth or bars 10 disposed at one end of the bore of a rotary plug 8, which stop the movement of the scraper and can be moved, from outside the fitting, to a position whereby the scraper is released. The bore 9 of the plug 8 may have a cross-section greater than that of the scraper to allow the fluid to flow when the scraper is arrested in the'plug and the bores of the inlet and outlet connections 4, 5 of the fitting may widen towards the plug. There may bea lateral connection 6 closed by a detachable cover 7 by which the scraper is removed from the fitting when the plug is turned to the position shown. The scraper may comprise a cylindrical body or cake mainly of paraffin wax.
