725,018. Viewfiriders for photographic cameras. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. April 20, 1953 [April 23, 1952], No. 10745/53. Class 98 (1). In a photographic camera having a focusing objective and a viewfinder comprising an optical system 1, 2, Fig. 1, a fixed frame 3, and a movable frame 4 coupled to the focusing movement of the objective as by a rod 5 so as to compensate for parallax errors of the viewfinder, the frames 3, 4 bear indices indicating the position of frame 4. Frame 3 has Y-shaped incisions 6, 7 at one edge, and frame 4 has square-cut incisions 8, 9. When the objective is focused on a near object, frame 4 is lowered to cut off the top of the field of view of the viewfinder and incisions 6, 9 coincide. When the objective is focused at infinity, incisions 7, 8 coincide. At intermediate positions incisions 8, 9 partly register with incisions 7, 6. In a modification frame 3 has a transparent distance scale in register with a slit in frame 4. An aperture in frame 4 is visible through a slot in frame 3 to indicate on scale the distance to which the objective is focused.
