Abstract
724,912. Artificial teeth. FLUCKIGER, W. E., and HUGUENIN, J. C. Jan. 19, 1953 [Oct. 7, 1952], No. 1519/53. Class 81 (2). A device for securing a dental prosthesis within the wearer's mouth comprises a male part, secured to either the wearer's mouth or the prosthesis, consisting of two hemispherical sections urged apart by a spring so that they frictionally engage a female part on the prosthesis or the wearer's mouth, the hemispherical sections being carried by a socket with respect to which they are moved by a return spring. One hemispherical section 6a is provided with a rod 6 which slides within a sleeve 7 which is integral with the other hemispherical section 7a the hemispherical sections 6a, 7a being urged apart by a spring 8. One end of the rod 6 is screwthreaded and passes through the sleeve 7 to engage a member 9 which in turn is threaded to engage a socket 10. The socket 10 is slidable within the outer socket 2 against a spring 11, a stud 12 being provided which bears against the closed end of the outer socket 2. Outward movement of the member 9 and socket 10 is limited by the inner face of a ring 13 over which the outer socket 2 is screwed. In the construction described the outer socket 2 is embedded in the prosthesis and the hemispherical sections 6a, 7a are urged apart by the spring 8 to frictionally engage a recess in a crown mounted on a natural tooth (not shown).
