Abstract

A plant-growth regulating emulsion comprises water, a water-soluble salt of an aryloxyacetic acid selective herbicide, a water-immiscible liquid of low volatility (i.e. of the order of, or less than, that of water) and an emulsifying agent. The preferred herbicide is the trimethylamine salt of 2-methyl -4- chlorophenoxyacetic acid. The water-immiscible liquid is preferably a mineral oil such as kerosene. The emulsifying agent is conveniently non-ionic e.g. a polyethylene oxide derivative, but ionic agents such as sulphonated vegetable or mineral oils may be used alone, or in admixture with the non-ionic agents. Also specified are salts of 2 : 4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and 2 : 4 : 5-tri-chlorophenoxyacetic acid.
