Abstract
723,723. Ramps on vehicles for loading. TELEHOIST, Ltd. Nov. 19, 1953 [Nov. 22, 1952], No. 29555/52. Class 78 (4). The end section of a ramp, Fig. 1, is folded and unfolded as the main part a moves by a jack h, which is moved in one direction by fluid displaced from the jack b, for moving the main section a, and which is controlled by a valve m which responds to the pressure in the jack b. The jack b is connected to swing a lever d connected by a link e to a bracket f on the ramp a while the jack h is pivoted to the main ramp a and swings an arm j rigid with the folding portion g. The end of the cylinder b adjacent its pivot on the vehicle is connected by the valve m and a conduit k to the jack h. When the ramp is to be lowered the supply pressure on the control valve m is released by a manually operable valve so that the spindle n of the valve m moves to the position shown in Fig. 3 to connect the cylinder b to the cylinder h so that the weight of the descending ramp forces liquid from cylinder b into cylinder h to unfold the portion g. When the unfolding is complete liquid is discharged to a relief pipe r through a relief valve p. When pressure liquid is connected to the jack b the spindle n is moved to the position shown in Fig. 2 to connect the cylinder h directly to the relief conduit r. Two or more jacks may be associated with each part of the ramp.
