723,577. Cycle gear-cases. GERVEN, G. W. VAN. June 30, 1952 [June 30, 1951 ; Feb. 15, 1952], No. 16406/52. Class 136(1). In a gear case for cycles having a cover 8 of flexible material partially or completely divided longitudinally so as to present two open edges, these edges being provided with seams through which are passed cover stretching wires 4 lying in a concave channel formed by a rigid rim 1 of the gear case, the wires 4 being tensioned by an element 7 mounted on the cover, the tensioning element 7 consists of a double bent tension spring 9 of resilient wire provided at each end with a hook 9b for engaging hooks 14 on the ends of the cover stretching wires 4, the spring 9 being pivotally mounted at 12 on a lever 18 which at one end is provided with a pivot pin 19 adapted to engage a fixed hook 5 and which by rotation about the pin 19 is brought into tensioning position. The wires 4 are led through a seam provided in a radial gap closure flap 15 which is drawn into closed position when the wires are put under tension.
