Abstract

722,573. Buckets. BRITISH XYLONITE CO., Ltd., and SHARP, E. H. Nov. 6, 1953 [Oct. 24, 1952], No. 26797/52. Class 66. A bucket is provided with a pair of external sockets each comprising a wall or diaphragm 8, Fig. 2, spaced from the adjacent part of the wall of the container by a recess 9, Fig. 3, which is open at its lower end and having formed therein a vertical slot 14 open at its lower end and closed at its upper end, and with a hooped handle 7 having at each of its ends a head 17 capable of lying within the recess 9 but not of passing through the slot 14, the head 17 being connected to the body of the handle by a neck 16 capable of passing through the slot 14, the neck 16 and/or the wall 8 being resiliently deformable. Preferably the slot 14 is wider at its upper end and the width at the lower end is somewhat less than the diameter of the neck 16 so that the slot is distorted to permit entry of the neck but thereafter holds it against displacement. The handle may be formed of hard polyvinylchloride and the container of polythene. The rim 6 may be thickened and may be provided with a pouring lip.
