Abstract
721,368. Pressure - regulating valves. EVERED & CO., Ltd. March 2, 1953 [Feb. 29, 1952], No. 5320/52. Class 135. In a pressure-regulating valve in which the valve seat is ordinarily formed on a shallow apertured saucer-like unit 7 of springy metal, held between a fixed seating 6c in the casing 6 and the periphery of the usual valve actuating diaphragm 8, the lower annular part 7b of the unit has attached thereto a disc or washer-like member 9 of slightly pliable material which forms the valve seat proper. The seat member 9 which is pressed directly against the seating 6c by the unit 7 may be moulded from a thermoplastic material such as polyvinyl chloride and during the moulding operations is formed with projections 9b which fit corresponding apertures in the annular part 76 and are subsequently deformed by pressing to produce a rivet-like attachment. The member 9 is also moulded with a slightly protruding rib 9c which fits the aperture in the annular part 7b. The aperture 9a in the disc 9 has its edge chamfered or radiussed to co-operate with the valve head 10. Specification 451,780 is referred to.
