Abstract

720,421. Removal of dust generated in industrial processes. BRITISH VACUUM CLEANER & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. June 4, 1953. [June 9, 1952] No. 14503/52. Class 8 (2). Mobile vacuum cleaning apparatus for removing dust from mine roadways comprises one or more cyclone separator units 2, 4 Fig. 1 each detachably mounted on mobile dust containers 1, 3 a mobile filter unit 6 having its inlet detachably connected to the exhaust of the cyclone or cyclones and discharging to an exhauster 7 for providing suction to a nozzle 15 (not shown) connected by a hose to the inlet of cyclone 2. A spare container 5 normally closed by a lid 10 and to which either of the cyclone units may be transferred is located between container 3 and filter 6. Connections comprise couplings 45 and flexible suction conduits 23, 25, 26, 37. The filter comprises groups of sleeves 31 Fig. 4 supported between a perforated plate 32 and the top of a casing 28 and shaken by a frame 40 and rods 41 (not shown) ; dust so removed being collected in a tray 38. Springs 33 prevent collapse of the sleeves by suction. Each container has a vent 46 for releasing gas given off by collected dust during inoperative periods and the vents are closed by disc valves on the application of suction by the exhauster.
