Abstract
720,054. Hedgecutters. McCONNEL. Ltd., F. W. June 23, 1953. [June 25, 1952] No. 15927/52. Class 6 (2). A tractor mounted hedge cutter is provided with a clearing element for displacing severed cuttings from a hedge. As shown a reciprocating cutter 10 is mounted on a platform 11 secured to tractor elevator arms 12. The clearing element comprises a pair of spaced tubes 15 which are adjustably positioned by means of a cable 22 controlled by an operator so that severed cuttings are diverted outwardly towards the outer ends of the tube. The cuttings are received on a part circular plate 14 fixed to the cutter 10 which is pivoted on a longitudinal axis. The tubes are mounted on a post 19 and are vertically adjustable thereon. The post 19 is adjustable so that the tubes 15 may be set parallel to the outer when cutting inclined hedges. The clearing element may be mounted adjacent to the cutter end of the cutter to divert cuttings towards the tractor. The invention may be applied to a machine as described in Specification 715,523.
