Abstract
A process for the preparation of sizing, dyeing, finishing, or like baths comprises the steps of heating the crude bath to a predetermined temperature automatically maintaining the temperature constant by electrical control for a predetermined time and, if necessary, thereafter removing pressure differences with respect to the atmosphere before discharging the bath. The heating may be effected <FORM:0719462/IV(c)/1> electrically, or either directly, or indirectly, by steam. In the control system shown for bath-preparation plant comprising a mixer in which the crude bath is prepared and from which it is subsequently transferred by a steam jet pump to a steam-heated boiler, a switch 9 is first moved to its lower position to allow manual control, by switches 7, 8 of solenoid-operated valves 5, 6 which, respectively, open the boiler to the atmosphere and supply steam to the pump during the transfer operation. After setting a timer 11 for the required boiling time, switch g is moved to its upper position and a push button switch 12 is operated to start the automatic heating operation. Relay 13 thereby operates, holds in over the timer contacts and extends the supply to relays 15, 16 which are controlled by a thermal switch 14, 151, 161, responsive to boiler temperature, these relays then controlling the steam heating valves 6, 17 for the boiler. At a given temperature, contact 151 opens, causing relay 15 to release, thereby starting the synchronous motor driving the timer 11 and shutting the valve 6, after which contact 161 (controlling valve 17 through relay 16) regulates for constant boiler temperature. Eventually, the timer contacts open, de-energizing relay 13, and terminate the heating process. Simultaneously, a relay 18 releases, to open valve 5 and effect pressure equalization in the boiler. Indicating lamps 20-22 may show the condition of the plant at any stage of the process. A recording thermometer 25, 26 may also be associated with the plant.
