Abstract

718,400. Louvre ventilators. STIRLING, R. B. May 4, 1953 [May 5, 1952], No. 11282/52. Class 137 A ventilator grill comprises a metal frame 1 having a flange 2 for attachment to an air delivery conduit and two sets of completely revolvable louvres 3, 4, the outer set 3 being iotatably mounted by pivot pins 5 in the frame 1 and secured by nuts 6 and washers 7 to hold them in their individually adjusted positions, and the inner set 4 arranged at right angles to the outer set 3, being carried by spindles 8 supported in the frame 1. The laths 4, each provided at one end of their spindle 8 with an arm 10, are arranged in two groups, the arms 10 in one group being interconnected by a rod 11 at one side of the frame 1 and the arms 10 in the other group being interconnected by a rod 12 at the other side of the frame 1. One spindle in each group carries, at its end remote from the arm 10, a worm wheel 13 which meshes with a worm 14 on a vertical spindle 15 mounted in bearings carried by the frame 1 and having its upper end squared as at 16 so that all of the louvres in one particular group can be simultaneously adjusted by a key. In alternative arrangements the set of individually adjustable blades may be omitted, or the ventilators may be provided with an outer series of interconnected louvres parallel, or at an angle to, the inner set of louvres. In a further modification all of the louvres are interconnected to operate together.
