717,556. Knife handles. IMPERIAL KNIFE CO., Inc. Aug. 18, 1952 [Aug. 21, 1951], No. 20721/52. Class 30 [Also in Groups V and XV] A knife handle unit, Fig. 3, comprises a sheet metal scale 32 and a plastic sheet cover 34 on the front of said scale, the cover having marginal edge portions folded around the edges of the scale and lying against the back of the scale, and the edge portions having grooves 46 on the external back surfaces thereof to maintain said portions in the intimate contact with the back of the scale and to keep the folds in intimate contact with the edges of the scale. In a modification, Fig. 16, the scale 32' has stag indentations on its front surface and stag projections 118 on its back surface, the contour of the cover, including the marginal edge portions, matching the contour of the underlying surface of the scale.
