Class 43 In an adjustable clasp for a watch bracelet, of the kind wherein members 10, 14 with parts 11, 25 for attachment to the respective ends of the bracelet are relatively slidable to shorten or lengthen the bracelet, and the part 14 is hingedly attached to a finger 22 having a stud or projection 28 engageable selectively in any one of a series of apertures 18 spaced longitudinally of the member 10, a retaining member 32 disposed adjacent to the apertures 18 is adapted to engage behind a shoulder or enlargement on the projection 28 to prevent inadvertent disengagement of the part 22. In the example the member 10 is substantially of box-like form, of rectangular section and longitudinally arcuate, whilst the part of the member 14 that is slidable therein is of channel form with lugs 20 at its outer end providing supports for the hinge pin 21 of the finger 22 which normally extends along the convex face of the member 10. The portion 23 of the finger 22 adjacent to the hinge pin 21 is of part cylindrical form and surrounds and supports a corresponding end portion of the attachment lug 25, a part of the latter being narrowed to move within an arcuate slot in its support 23. The retaining member 32 consists of a resilient bifurcated metal strip held in position within the channel of the member 14 by inturned lugs 33. The stud 28 which engages the gap or slot 34 in the retaining member 32 may be formed with a head 29, Fig. 4, or shaped as a cylinder with a circumferential groove, and is preferably of solid or unsplit form so that it does not afford lateral resilience. In alternative arrangements one or more retaining members may be provided within the box guide member 10, e.g. as a single strip metal or wire member similar to the member 32, or as a series of bifurcated members in register with the individual apertures 18.
