Abstract

The notched thread guiding device of the apparatus for spinning-in a running artificial thread described in the parent Specification consists of the terminal portion of the supply line for the spinning-in liquid, this terminal portion being vertical and cut away at one side to form an open channel through which both the thread and the spinning-in liquid travel downwards, the lower end of the channel being provided with the notch through which the thread passes on its way to the waste thread collecting device prior to being cut between the notch and the waste collecting device. As shown in Fig. 1 the thread 3 travels downwards in the open channel of the vertical portion of a liquid supply duct 1 and through a guide <PICT:0717193/IV (a)/1> notch 2 to a reel 4 acting as a waste thread collecting device. The vertical portion of the supply duct 1 is situated vertically above a funnel 5 of a tube 6. After opening valves (not shown) in the duct 1 and in the duct (not shown) for the supply of liquid to the tube 6, the thread 3 is cut at the point X and the running thread 3 washed into the funnel 5. The liquid supply duct 1 may be manufactured from a short piece of tubing cast from corrosion resisting metal (e.g. lead), bent to the required shape and secured by means of a union to a liquid supply duct.ALSO:<PICT:0717193/IV(c)/1> The notched thread guiding device of the apparatus for spinning-in a running thread described in the parent Specification consists of the terminal portion of the supply line for the spinning-in liquid, this terminal portion being vertical and cut away at one side to form an open channel through which both the thread and the spinning-in liquid travel downwards, the lower end of the channel being provided with the notch through which the thread passes on its way to the waste thread collecting device before being cut between the notch and the collecting device.
