Abstract

714,245. Desk cabinets. BIDDLE, W. T. Aug. 7, 1951 [Oct. 23, 1950], No. 25712/50. Class 52(1) In cabinets of the kind comprising a desk having a movable platform for a typewriter &c. which can be raised or lowered to or from its operative position by manipulation of a lid the mechanical connection between the lid and the platform comprises a toggle linkage. As shown the typewriter &c. platform 4 is carried by a toggle linkage comprising a link 15 pivoted at 18 to a fixed side of the cabinet and at 17 to a link 16 which is pivoted to a bracket 19 carried by the platform 4. Movement of the platform 4 is caused by swinging the lid 5, which, in the position shown, forms part of the desk top, in the direction shown. This lid 5 is carried by a link 6 pivoted at 7 to the cabinet side and by a link 9 also pivoted to the cabinet side at 10 and having an extension 11 linked to the toggle linkage 15, 16 by a link 12. The platform 4 is guided in its up-anddown movements by a fixed channel guide 22 in which engage rollers 21 carried by a bracket 14 fixed to the platform 4.
