Abstract
Wheat or like grain is conditioned by exposing it to direct contact with steam, e.g. at a pressure more than 0.5 atmospheres above atmospheric pressure and immediately thereafter subjecting it in a separate container to an extended period of heat treatment at constant temperature, the period and temperature being determined respectively primarily by the quantity of grain under treatment and the nature and size of the individual particles thereof.
