Abstract
711,691. X-ray tubes. OTT, W. Feb. 14, 1950, No. 3770/50. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XXXV] An X-ray tube, shown in crosssection, has an anticathode with a number of inclined faces 13a, 13b, 13c, 13d, together with deflecting means for directing the cathode beam on to different parts of said anticathode; focusing means are also provided. The tube is especially intended for intracavernous radiography, and the particular example shown is of elliptical section, so that it may be conveniently introduced into the mouth and held by the teeth. The tube is coated internally with a silver layer, and externally with a lead layer, the whole being covered with high tension insulating material. The beam deflection may be by plates or coils, and the focusing either electrostatic or electromagnetic; Figs. 9-12 (not shown) and Figs. 5-8 (not shown) are some of the possible circuit arrangements. The auxiliary equipment may be enclosed in a housing attached to the tube, together with a heat radiator attached to the anticathode. X-ray sensitive film is supported in carriers displaceable along the tube.
