Abstract

711,365. Electric heating mantles for liquid containers. ISOPAD, Ltd., and REIK, H. June 12, 1952 [July 6, 1951], No. 16108/51. Class 39 (3) An electric heating mantle, e.g. for flasks or retorts comprises cup-shaped lagging 3, e.g. of glass wool, between inner and outer cupshaped covers 1, 2 and an electric heating element 4 adjacent the inner cover 1 which is of a heat-resisting fabric, e.g. glass fabric or quartz fabric, and has a shape intermediate conical and spherical to accommodate flasks of different sizes. The inner cover 1 may in addition, have annular indentations. The heating element 4, which may be spiral or arranged to lie up and down the cover 1, is sewn to the cover 1 and is in two parts 4a, 4b connected in parallel, a switch 12 enabling either both parts, or the lower part 4b only, to be energised. The outer cover 2 may be of fabric or sheet metal and it has a hole in its base co-operating with one in the cover 1 to form an air aperture 5. The covers 1, 2 are joined together by endless springs 15, 16 and the cover 1 has a resilient crust formed thereon as described in Specification 645,843.
