Class 98(2) A container for alkaline developing vapour such as ammonia has a boundary wall whereof a portion is pervious and a lid-like element of configuration similar to the pervious portion which may be spaced apart therefrom for insertion of an exposed print and then closed on the print to seal the pervious portion against the escape of vapour. As shown, in elevation Fig. 1 and section Fig. 2, the container 11 has a felt insert 12 lying on a perforated plate 13 which is itself supported by springs 14 to place the felt insert flush with the surrounding surface of the upper boundary wall of the container, and a pressure plate 19 constituting the lid-like element mounted on parallel linkages 20, 21, whereof linkages 20 are provided free ends 40 for raising the pressure plate 19 whereby an exposed diazotype sheet may be inserted, coated surface downward, on to the felt insert 12. Rubber beading 23 provides a seal to prevent escape of vapour during development. The pressure plate 19 may have a recess 24 and a lid 26 thereover, the recess containing acidic chemicals so that developed prints may be placed therein to free them from surplus alkaline vapour. Ammonia may be poured into the container through tube 15.
