709,605. Wrapped packages of yarn &c. AMERICAN VISCOSE CORPORATION. June 5, 1952 [Sept. 6, 1951], No. 14225/52. Class 120(3) [Also in Group VIII] Annular packages or cakes of regenerated cellulose yarn or thread are wrapped in flexible tissue paper of high wet strength, which is made shrinkable by spaced deposits of regenerated cellulose or of an alkali-soluble cellulose ether preferably as stripes around the cake, so that as the cake shrinks on drying, the paper shrinks to conform therewith, the paper also having a coating, of an acid- and alkali-proof elastomer, e.g. natural or synthetic rubber impermeable to vapour, on that portion of the wrapper which surrounds the outer wall of the cake to protect the outer layers thereof against drying too quickly, and thus against uneven tensioning due to its shrinking when drying. The paper is air-permeable and may be perforated. Specification 683,184 is referred to.
