Class 29 Evaporators of absorption refrigerators are provided, along their lower inside surfaces only, with a woven layer of absorbent material to distribute the liquid refrigerant, enabling the evaporator pipes &c. to be arranged horizontally. Fig. 3 shows a layer 2 of woven glass threads laid in an evaporator tube 1. In an annular evaporator, Fig. 7, the absorbent material is in the form of a woven tube 6 hung over the inner tube 5 so as to rest upon the base of the outer tube 4. Fig. 8 shows a U-shaped evaporator with the absorbent material 7 hung from supports 8 so as to lie along the base.
