Abstract

Wood waste or other materials of cellulosic structure is first boiled in water to free it from dust and soluble organic constituents and then bound with cement or other binder which sets on the addition of water to form building materials. The wood waste may be shavings, wood chips or sawdust from pine, poplar, willow or alder trees and the cellulosic material stems of hemp or other plants. Preferably the cellulosic material is boiled in water for 15-20 minutes, drained and pressed through rollers or squeezers, it is then incorporated preferably with a mechanical mixer with portland cement of 400 mesh and then pressed in wooden or sheet metal moulds to about 1/3 volume. The product should stay in the mould for about 18-24 hours at 25-30 DEG C. and then mature for 8 to 90 days.
