707,740. Calculating-apparatus. BLACKWELL, H. A. B. Dec. 5, 1951 [Dec. 27, 1950], No. 31336/50. Class 106 (1) A calculator comprises a member bearing concentric circular logarithmic scales of speed and time and a relatively rotatable member having a logarithmic scale of distance co-operating with the time scale and carrying a pointer which cooperates with the speed scale. Relatively rotatable discs 10, 11 carry co-operating scales C, D of minutes and miles respectively. A pointer 13, located on the disc 11 by the central pivot and a rivet 14, indicates speed in miles per hour on a further scale C1 on the disc 10. For this purpose, when the scales C and D are aligned, the pointer indicates "60." In a modification for use in motor racing, the time scale is graduated in minutes and seconds and a similar calculator is arranged on the back of the disc 10, the scales C, D and C1 being calibrated respectively for qualifying distance, actual distance and index of performance, the latter being the ratio of actual to qualifying distance.
