Class 83 (3) A gear-cutting hob comprises toothed rack members a secured in longitudinal dovetailed slots in a body b, and end plates d secured to the ends of the body by set-screws e. The blades a are secured by tapered pins c. Alternatively, the blades are tapered to wedge into the-slots. The blades may be of helical form. The Provisional Specification states that no dovetailing is necessary if helical blades are used.
