Abstract
706,467. Coiling. SCHLAICH, H. Oct. 15, 1952 [Oct. 18, 1951], No. 25902/52. Class 83 (4) In making a bimetallic coil comprising two parallel spiral coils connected by a bridge portion arbors secured'to each end of a blank are rotated in opposite direction to form the coils. A blank is bent about a mandrel 42 and the ends of legs 20, 22 are secured in shallow slots in arbors 28, 30. The arbors are secured in split collet chucks 68, 70 operated by screws 76 and rotated at the same speed in opposite directions from a handle 86 through gearing 78, 80, 102, 88, 90. The chuck 70 is mounted on a headstock 58 slidable on rods 54 and secured by a clamp 62. Spring urged arms 112 press the blank against the arbors during coiling.
