Abstract

The invention comprises dyes of the formula: <FORM:0705920/IV(c)/1> where R is an aryl radical including a vattable aryl radical. They are made by acylation of 2-(1-amino-2-anthraquinonyl)-5-(1.4-diamino-2-anthraquinonyl) -1.3.4-oxdiazole, and an example describes the treatment of this body with benzoyl chloride, p-chlorbenzoyl chloride, or benzoyl chloride containing methyl-, methoxydimethylsulphonamido-, or methylsulphonyl radicals. The products give violet shades on cotton. Other acylating agents referred to are trifluoromethyl benzoyl chloride, nitro- and amino-anthraquinone carboxylic chlorides, anthrathiazole and alkylpyrazoleanthronecarboxylic acid chlorides. 2-(1-Amino-2-anthraquinonyl)-5-(1.4-diamino-2-anthraquinonyl) -1.3.4-oxdiazole is prepared by reacting the monohydrazide of 1-aminoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid with the acid chloride of 4-nitro-1-aminoanthraquinone-2-carboxylic acid, ringclosing to the oxdiazole, and reducing the nitro group (blue shades on cotton).
