Abstract
704,669. Jet propulsion plant; gas turbine plant. SOC. RATEAU, and ANXIONNAZ, R. July 4, 1950 [July 22, 1949], No. 16686/50. Class 110 (3) Relates to a jet turbine engine having a low pressure axial-flow compressor feeding outer and inner ducts terminating in separate or combined jet propulsion nozzles and having a high-pressure, axial-flow compressor together with one or more combustion chambers and one or more turbines for driving said compressors disposed in said inner duct. Such an engine comprises a boosting system having means for injecting water with or without a liquid fuel such as methanol into the combustion chambers k of the engine, combustion heating means 2 in the outer duct or in the combined jet propulsion nozzle and means such as a member 3 controlling outlet ports 3a for adjusting the cross-sectional area of the outer or combined jet propulsion nozzle. The jet turbine engine comprises compressors g, which are driven by turbines h, I respectively. In a modification, the compressors are mechanically coupled together through suitable gearing and are jointly driven by the said turbines. The jet turbine engine may also include water injection nozzles 4 disposed as shown, a burner 5 and water or water/methanol injection nozzles 6 arranged between the turbines together with burners 7 and a bullet 8 arranged in the inner nozzle n. At least one of the stator blades of the low-pressure compressor is adjustably mounted. Moreover a throttle 10 is disposed in the outer flow i, a valve 11 is positioned downstream of the low-pressure compressor to connect the compressor j with the atmosphere and a bleed line 12 is arranged beween the turbines. The said adjustable members are mechanically, hydraulically or electrically controlled directly by the pilot or through an adjusting system. Specifications 650,661 and 650,710 are referred to.
