Abstract
In a method of manufacture of iron-tin permanent magnets, to an aqueous solution of a ferrous and a stannous salt is added an alkaline carbonate or bicarbonate or a mixture of both and the precipitated mixture of iron and tin carbonates is separated and decomposed into oxides at a temperature below 450 DEG C. and then reduced, preferably with hydrogen, at a temperature below 450 DEG C, the metallic powder then being agglomerated at a temperature not exceeding 500 DEG C. The final powder contains less than 20 per cent., preferably from 4 to 8 per cent. of tin.
