Abstract

The invention comprises the complex cobalt and copper derivatives of dyestuffs of the formula <FORM:0703949/IV(c)/1> where R is a benzene residue free from sulphonic acid groups. These are made by treating the metalfree dyestuffs with cobalt or copper salts or metalamine complexes or metal derivatives of hydroxy-or amino-acids. The products are suitable for dyeing materials of animal origin, and anodized aluminium (see Group XV). Examples show the preparation of copper and cobalt compounds where R is phenyl and o-chlorophenyl respectively. R may also be m- or p-chlorophenyl, 2 : 5-dichlorophenyl or p-tolyl.
