Abstract

703,529. Cores for dynamo-electric machines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. May 9, 1952 [May 10, 1951], No. 11793/52. Class 35. A laminated stator structure for a single-phase induction motor has a substantially continuous inner surface and a number of salient shaded poles wherein the shaded parts have a tapering bridge extending in increasing section to join integrally the unshaded part of the adjacent pole. Fig. 1 shows a stator structure made up of two separate laminated stacks 2, 3. The core 2 has salient poles 15 ... 18 each having a slot 19 to receive a shading coil 20. The shaded part of one pole is integrally joined to the un-shaded part of the next pole by tapering magnetic bridges 23 ... 26. The outer stack 3 has internally projecting lands 4 ... 7 on to which the salient poles are positioned. The yoke 2 has indentations 8, 9 at its periphery and the projecting tongues thus formed are welded together.
