Abstract

702,852. Line-throwing rockets. SCHERMULY PISTOL ROCKET APPARATUS, Ltd. April 28, 1952 [June 12, 1951], No. 13875/51. Classes 9(1), 9(2) and 77. A line-carrying rocket is provided with a grapnel comprising a metal sleeve 1 bolted over the rocket head, metal tubes 4 brazed to the sleeve being braced by tubular metal stays 5 brazed to the sleeve and to the outer ends of the associated tubes. In the end of each tube is a metal ferrule 6 secured by brazing. Also brazed to the sleeve are two rods 7 on which a stirrup 8 is pivoted, a wire rope stop 9 serving to secure the line being attached to the stirrup. To fire the rocket, the stirrup is swung outwardly and the rocket inserted in a discharger with the rods 7 outside the barrel so that the muzzle end of the barrel abuts the rear end of the sleeve 1.
