Abstract

<PICT:0702679/IV(c)/1> Apparatus for scouring, dyeing, washing or similar treatment of yarn cheeses comprises a bin into the base of which a number of tubular perforated supports for the cheeses are fitted each of which has a tubular perforated wall which is coaxial with the support and encloses a space into which the cheeses fit, the wall being adapted to be fitted around and lifted away from the cheeses. The treatment liquid is forced through the perforations of the support in either direction. Fig. 1 shows a liquid treatment apparatus comprising a base 1 to which central perforated cylindrical supports 2 are fixed surrounding by cylindrical perforated retaining walls 4 the yarn cheeses being packed in the intervening spaces. When the yarn cheeses have been inserted in the interspace between walls 2 and 4 they are enclosed at the top by a cover 10 which is slidable in an axial direction and the treatment liquid is circulated by means of pump 13 through the perforated walls firstly from inner to outer wall and then in the reverse direction the cover 10 moving axially with pressure changes. In a modification, Fig. 14 (not shown), the top cover is prevented from moving axially by provision of a locking means. The outer perforated wall 4 may be removed from the base support 1 to facilitate loading or discharge of the yarn cheeses.
