Abstract

701,923. Voltage accommodation. DUBILIER CONDENSER CO. (1925), Ltd. March 14, 1952 [March 14, 1951], No. 6177/51. Class 38 (4) A screened high-frequency capacitive voltage divider comprises a metal casing A housing a lowcapacity high-voltage fluiddielectric condenser E, F, and a relatively high-capacity low-voltage solid-dielectric condenser J, the two condensers being connected in series between input terminals B', A, and the low-voltage condenser having connections to a coaxial type of outlet socket O, Q mounted in the wall of the casing. The electrode E may be of cylindrical form, preset in position on a threaded lead-in bolt carried by an insulator B soldered to an inturned upper end of the casing. Electrode F may be of cup form, being secured to an insulating plate H in the casing and steadied by an insulating ring G. The casing is filled with oil, introduced through a plug R<SP>3</SP> in its base R. The ring G and plate H are apertured to allow passage of the oil. A matching resistor M, for the cable entering the outlet socket, shunts the condenser J. In a modified construction, the electrode E has a hemispherical lower surface facing the electrode F which is in the form of a mushroom head.
