Abstract

700,518. Camera viewfinder hoods. PYE, Ltd. June 19, 1952 [March 22, 1951], No. 6929/51. Class 98(1) A camera viewfinder hood, especially for a television camera, comprises a connecting member mounted on the camera in such manner as to be capable of tilting movement in two directions, and a hood member associated with the connecting member so that it may move with this connecting member, means being provided for excluding extraneous light from the assembly in the vicinity of the mounting for the connecting member. As shown, the rear of the camera 1 defines a viewing aperture 2 which may be provided with a transparent screen. 3. The ears 4 projecting from the back of the camera are apertured to accommodate bearings 5 for a first gimbal ring 6, which itself carries bearings 7 for a second gimbal ring 8. The hood 9 is attached to the ring 8 by a rigid tube assembly 12, and extraneous light is excluded by the bellows 10 connected at one end to the rear frame 11 of the camera and at the other to the hood 9. A magnifying lens 13 may be provided. Specification 670,885 is referred to.
